12th Show (OA October 14th, 2008)
Okamoto: Good evening, this is Hey!Say!7’s Okamoto Keito
Morimoto: Good evening, this is Morimoto Ryutaro
Okamoto: It’s already October 14th.
Morimoto: Oh yeah.
Okamoto: It’s fall now.
Morimoto: Have you found anything that relates to “fall”?
Okamoto: Fall? My bed is next to a window and the windows at my house are old that when I’m sleeping I can feel the wind. You know, and the blow on my body because it’s coming right next to my bed. It’s really cold.
Morimoto: It’s cold?
Okamoto: Yeah, it’s cold. I guess its fall now.
Morimoto: I know. I have a pet hamster
Okamoto: A hamster?
Morimoto: Yeah, and he listens to me sometimes.
Okamoto: He listens to you?
Morimoto: Yup, when I tell him “come!” he comes to me
Okamoto: the hamster would?
Morimoto: Yeah
Okamoto: Hmm.
Morimoto: And I don’t know why but when knock on the window, he comes. I knocked on the window this morning but he didn’t come and I thought something was weird. So I opened his cage where he sleeps and he was hibernating. I was like “what the heck is he doing?”
Okamoto: Oh, it must be fall.
Morimoto: My mom was like “he’s just hibernating. You know, hamsters do hibernate” and I was denying her. He didn’t wake up when I yelled “wake up!” to him so I thought this is useless and went to the bathroom. When I came back he was spinning on the wheel.
Okamoto: like he was running really fast
Morimoto: I was like “how scary”
Okamoto: Hmm. My cat is pretty amazing. When you say sit, she’ll sit and when you tell her hand she’ll do it.
Morimoto: I think that’s a dog
Okamoto: A dog? No, it’s a cat. Isn’t she pretty amazing?
Morimoto: Well, my hamster can do back flips. If you tell him “back flip” he’ll do it.
Okamoto: No he won’t
Morimoto: Let’s start this
[they never mentioned the sex of the animal but just assume it because I don’t want to use “it”]
DCT
Okamoto: This is the 12th episode since it started. We are not very familiar about radios so we’d like to learn about technical terms for radios.
Morimoto: For those of you, who just started listening to the radio, let’s learn it together! Please enjoy until the end.
Hey!Say! Special class
[This might be confusing since the some of the terms are abbreviated words”
Morimoto: We’ll start learning about technical terms used in radio. We will use terms that are not commonly used normally in the show. Everyone from radio-lovers, think thoroughly with us.
Okamoto: The technical terms are in this box. We’ll pull one out and think together what it means. Ryutaro pull one out.
Morimoto: Wait, the box broke.
Okamoto: It broke? Just pull one out.
Morimoto: This is bad. We’re supposed to use this for a long time. Here, first technical term is “ステブレ/sutebure”
Okamoto: Sutebure?
Morimoto: What is this?
Okamoto: Well, of course sutebure means straight iron.
Morimoto: What do people call straight irons? Suto-rait? [straight]
Okamoto: Like Suto-Bure kind of
Morimoto: I think “ステ/sute” means “ステレオ/stereo”
Okamoto: Oh I think its stereo cable!
Morimoto: can’t be. It ends in “レ/re”
Okamoto: Then it’d be “ステブル/suteburu/ stereo cable”
Morimoto: Yeah, suteburu
Okamoto: So it’s sutebure
Morimoto: Yeah, it’s sutebure. Oh here’s a hint.
Okamoto: What is it?
Morimoto: “let’s think about how it’s used”
Okamoto: That’s what we are doing now. Maybe the stereo got shaky
Morimoto: But it shouldn’t.
Okamoto: Maybe the stereo started shaking so they’d say “oh sutebure! Sutebure!”
[ぶ れる/bureru/shakes or blurred]
Morimoto: Oh I got it. It’s studio breaker.
Okamoto: it means?
Morimoto: The studio’s breaker falls. They’d yell “hey sutebure! Sutebure!”
Okamoto: But it has “te”
Morimoto: Oh yeah
Okamoto: The stereo… maybe its stereo break.
Morimoto: Oh~ but what does it do?
Okamoto: Well the stereo… umm… you know, the stereo starting to breaking down.
Morimoto: Let’s see the answer now. Sutebure means “Station Break”. It is the set up time between an ending of a show and starting of another show.
Okamoto: Oh, I was right about “break” though
Morimoto: Yeah, you were. Originally, the interval was used to change the tape that was used to record broadcasts but since we use advanced technology, now there’s no need to hassle with changing. Now, the term is used when the commercials or radio ads are streamed.
Okamoto: Hmm
Morimoto: To be honest, I didn’t get it
Okamoto: But we were close
Morimoto: Yeah, we were pretty close
Okamoto: Okay, well I’ll pull one out next. Umm… the next technical term is… カフ/kafu
Morimoto: The soccer player? I really think it’s the soccer player
Okamoto: That’d be カフー/Cafu [real name Marcos Evangelista de Moraes]
Morimoto: Yeah so it is Cafu. I think it’s used when Cafu comes into the studio.
Okamoto: That doesn’t make any sense
Morimoto: He’ll give lecture on soccer
Okamoto: Lecture on soccer? Well, I’ll read the hint then. It’s something in the studio.
Morimoto: What?
Okamoto: What’d be kafu?
Morimoto: Isn’t it Cafu? Is it this?
Okamoto: I really don’t know. What the heck is “kafu”?!
Morimoto: It’s that thing… I think you forgot to add a long vowel.
Okamoto: So, you’re saying it’s longer?
Morimoto: Yeah, you have to put a long vowel at the end of kafu
Okamoto: Cafu? That’s not it. Maybe it’s like “kung fu”
Morimoto: There’s a hint. It’s something on the desk.
Okamoto: On the desk? I’ve been looking there since this started
Morimoto: Maybe it’s this
Okamoto: That?
Morimoto: It says “フー/fu”
Okamoto: This is something really hard to explain to the listeners
Morimoto: Oh yeah
Okamoto: Then, I’ll say the meaning.カフ/kafu/cough switch, is a thing that allows you to turn your mike on and off. When you have to sneeze or cough, you can turn this off so the noise won’t air.
Morimoto: This is really hard
Okamoto: That’s why
Morimoto: So when you really have to sneeze, you
Okamoto/Morimoto: turn it off
Okamoto: Yup
Morimoto: I was about to sneeze just a while ago. Now I learned how
Okamoto: Really? But you were right, Ryutaro
Morimoto: But I didn’t know the meaning
Okamoto: Well, we’ve just learned technical terms on radios. That was “Hey!Say!Special Class”
Morimoto: Please listen to a song. It’s Hey!Say!JUMP’s
Okamoto/Morimoto: Mayonaka no Shadow Boy
