What kind of guy is a popular guy?
Isn’t it the funny ones? I’m at the very edge of that (lol). All my friends are without a doubt popular, they’re really funny and can get really riled up. And if you’re like that then girls will think “Being with this guy is fun!” you know? That’s definitely a key point. I’ve gotta improve how I talk. To be popular. But I’m honest/serious. Really honest/serious. I’ll do what I gotta do. I tried to advertise myself there (lol). A popular guy, huh? I think being kind is the number one issue. Even if it’s just over a little thing. For example, if you’re meeting somewhere cold, buying a warm drink to give to her. I think real kindness is in those small points of kindness.

What kind of girl is a popular girl?
I like girls who won’t lie and who are honest. Also, girls with a bright personality. But honestly, I’m not sure what type I really like.

To appeal to girls, what part of you is manly?
I’m a punching machine. I’m the kind of guy who will beat down the final boss… I’m kidding (lol). Leaving aside the jokes, I think manliness is something you won’t see right away. If my girl went out to eat with another guy that would be unbelievable! Even if it’s just a guy friend that’s no no no good I hate it. After all, I don’t go out to eat with my friends that are girls alone.

How have you been recently?
I about to start filming for the “Proposal Daisakusen Special”. Since the drama ended I’ve met with everyone 5 or 6 times, so it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long since the drama. We’re all get along a little too much. But I think how we get along definitely shows in the drama. Communication is really important, definitely. I think that. Privately… how would it be if I ate shaved ice outside in the middle of winter?- I mean, I actually experimented with it. My body was totally freezing (lol). But it was delicious. Really, midwinter is really about shaved ice or soumen. Tomorrow maybe I’ll challenge soumen (lol). Society wise, everyone’s getting excited about Valentine’s Day. I want a lot of love too. Please, fill me with it.

What kind of guy is a popular guy?
The other day I had a class reunion with my classmates from elementary school and I was told “You were popular back then” to which I responded “Eh, I was?” totally surprised. I wasn’t self-aware of being popular at all (lol). When there were things like the class president being decided on, I wanted to stand out so ended up being a candidate but there was always someone else picked in the end by recommendation. Normally, if there’s a popular guy who’s a candidate, doesn’t he get picked (lol)? What’s with that~ if I had actually been that popular I would have liked to have been able to know (lol). But speaking seriously, I think people who have the ability to self produce themselves are the popular ones. This means people who can objectively see themselves. I was really no good at that in the past. In the past I had long hair and was aiming to be someone kind of ‘bad boy’-ish, even though from the female staff I’d often be told “It’d be better if you cut your hair” (lol). But when you’re young you do a lot of different things, for no reason but to rebel… kinda? (lol) But now as I’ve passed 20 I feel like I’m coming to be able to see myself objectively, if just a little bit. Like maybe it’s okay not to totally go against the common image people in the world have, stuff like that.

What kind of girl is a popular girl?
On a personal level I tend to like girls who tend not to be really girly. For example, those who don’t even have one strap on their cellphone, or those who seem like they’d sent text messages with tons of decorations but actually don’t use any emoji’s at all, those kinds of girls make me think “Ooh!?” and then I might be more conscious of them.

To appeal to girls, what part of you is manly?
I already had a coming out about this on a “photoshigenic” page, but Kato Shigeaki is a “oranyan” person (lol).

Are you a jealous person?
I think I’m surprisingly not. It’s OK if she texted with her guy friends. Ehh, if she went to see a movie with Koyama? Aah~ if it’s Koyama I would kind of be opposed to that (lol). Texting with guy friends is fine, but if a girl went out to eat with her guy friends too I’d be a bit curious. On the phone I might be like “Huh?” and seem tough but my soft side would end up coming out (lol). If a girl got jealous and was really insistent on it then that’d be troubling, but just a little would make me happy. If someone can not be jealous at all, it means they really trust their girlfriend. But then if she betrayed that trust it’d be a pretty big shock.

How have you been recently?
We’re at the height of our tour now. This time I’m personally not trying too hard to be cool and doing it really relaxed, running around and smiling a lot… yeah, I feel like it’s really become a new concert compared with our old ones. And I think we’ll be able to use our experiences from this one in the future.
