After a two day whirlwind tour of Hong Kong to promote his upcoming concert, Yamashita Tomohisa left the city yesterday. As expected, many fans went to see him off at the airport. The scene at the airport was similar to his arrival two days ago when 300 fans greeted him coming out of the gates. Despite the commotion, Yamashita was full of smiles and even accepted gifts from fans. At the same time, he also accepted interviews from the press and announced he will be holding two extra shows.
Yamashita was originally scheduled to hold two shows in Hong Kong on January 29 & 30. However, based on the overwhelming response from the fans, organizers decided to add two shows at 3 p.m. The tickets for these shows will go on sale tomorrow.
Yamashita was only in Hong Kong for one night and couldn't take in the sights like Lan Kwai Fong. He did say however, that he was surprised by the amount of fans at the airport. Although he understood their intentions, he was still shocked by the commotion. Yamashita says that he's been to Hong Kong before and has friends in the city, including Jaycee Chan. However, Jaycee has expressed that he won't be able to attend his show due to previous work commitments. Aside from Jaycee, Yamashita is also friends with Wilson Chen. He hopes he'll have a chance to work with them one day, and also wishes to work with Tohoshinki.
To prepare for his Hong Kong shows, Yamashita is currently learning Cantonese. Yamashita did learn Mandarin during his time at university. He hopes that he can introduce fans to Japanese culture during the concert and has a few surprises in store. Yamashita reveals he has prepared many extravagant outfits which are reminiscence of past JE shows. However, details are still to be determined. He asked fans to either wear red clothing or bring red accessories to the show to cheer him on.
After losing weight for his role in Ashita no Joe, Yamashita has regained back to his original weight of 60 kg. Reporters suggested for him to show off his hard-earned muscles during the concert. Yamashita laughed and said that he'll consider it. With work keeping him busy, he told reporters he sleeps, takes walks, and rides his bike to reduce stress. If he has a chance to take a break, he hopes to travel to Los Angeles to learn dancing. Yamashita will be releasing his first solo album next year. He uses the Kanji word 'Step'「步」to describe his success this year, saying he wishes to continue moving forward.
